FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduates Examination) is conducted to check the authenticity of the MBBS degree of medical aspirants. It is conducted by the National Board of Examination, twice a year in June and December. Students who want to practice in India should fulfil the eligibility criteria and complete the FMGE internship.
FMGE Internship allows medical aspirants to gather practical experience to practice medicine in India. The internship duration is 1 year for Indians and 2 years for Foreign Medical Graduates. It needs to be completed within 10 years of joining MBBS Abroad. Recently, FMGE has provided relief for Foreign Medical Graduates.
NMC new guidelines clarified that Foreign Medical Graduates can opt for the internship in non-teaching hospitals. NMC (National Medical Commission) is an Indian medical authority that deals with the complete healthcare sector and maintains the rules and regulations across the country. It is responsible for maintaining and regulating the quality of medical education degrees. NMC has provided a huge relief to the students who want to study MBBS Abroad.
Recently, the NMC has circulated a new guideline for FMGs to enroll in MBBS internships at non-teaching hospitals. It all happened due to the Delhi Medical Council (DMC) and the All FMGs Association(AFA). They have questioned the National Medical Council to take action in favor of FMGs who are unable to grab a seat for a compulsory rotational medical internship due to the lack of resources and insufficient authorised hospitals.
The actual notification stated: "It was informed that UGMEB(Under-Graduate Medical Education Board) mentioned the list of some non-teaching healthcare centres for compulsory rotating medical internship issued by the Erstwhile Medical Council of India, from May 2023 to May 2024. It took place to conduct the internship for Foreign Medical Graduates only.”
Later, they decided to extend the timeline from May 2024 to May 2026 due to the continuous difficulties and deployments received for MBBS Abroad students for internships. Let’s get to know some non-teaching hospitals for FMG students in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

The FMGE internship guidelines are the same as easier. There are no further changes except for the availability of non-teaching hospitals for MBBS Abroad students. The NMC, on 9th May 2023 mentioned the guidance for the FMGE internship after qualifying for the FMGE Exam with a good passing percentage. These are:
State Domicile: The state medical councils are not required to restrict MBBS Abroad students, from the opportunity to get an internship at a medical college based on their location. As per NMC Guidelines, students are free to pursue MBBS in any state or UT, after fulfilling the eligibility criteria.
Hospital Assignment: The State Medical Council is considering allotting the hospitals or institutes for Foreign Medical Graduates to pursue FMGE internships in India. It can be based on availability, FMGE Passing Ratio, and other factors.
Internship Duration & Completion: Students are required to complete their internship within 24 months of qualifying for the FMGE exam. The duration of the FMGE internship can last up to 2 years. Two years of duration is especially available for the FMG students to explore Indian medicine in detail and understand Indian diseases and treatment methods.
Fee Structure and Stipend: The hospital and institutes are restricted from taking any charge from MBBS Abroad students for FMGE internships. However, they should be stipend equal to the Indian medical interns.
Most importantly, you are required to qualify for the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduates Examination). This is not a competitive examination like the NEET Exam. You just need to get 150 marks out of 300 marks. To appear for the FMGE examination, you are required to fulfil the eligibility criteria, based on the NMC.
Being a medical aspirant, who has completed MBBS in Russia or any other country. You are majorly required to follow NMC guidelines. Following NMC will open up opportunities for the students, worldwide.
According to the previous record, MBBS in Georgia and Nepal has the highest FMGE Passing Ratio. They provide quality education and make FMGE simplified for you.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has facilitated a huge relaxation for the students pursuing MBBS Abroad. It has opened up the gate of non-teaching hospitals for the Foreign Medical Graduates. This is due to insufficient internship seats in authorised medical institutes or hospitals. The AFA and DMC have played a huge role in this relief. Students will get vast internship opportunities after qualifying for the FMGE examination. NMC provides equal opportunities to all aspirants without any discrimination. FMGs are equally allowed to practice medicine in India.
