Undergraduate: The 1st level of education is a 3-year BA or BSc degree. Most graduates get honors designations. 

  • The duration of UG programmes is 3 years in Wales, England, and Northern Ireland. In many Scottish universities, this might take 4 years. 
  • It may take a longer time to earn a graduate degree from certain vocational or professional institutes. As an example, it may take 6 years to graduate from a medical or dental school.

Postgraduate: In the UK, you have the option of pursuing either a taught or a research master's program (PG). 

  • It would take 1 year to get a master's degree in teaching and 2 years to earn a master's degree in research. To earn a doctorate (PhD), it takes 4 years.

Vocational Diploma: The UK institutes offer a wide variety of postsecondary vocational courses. 2 are the Higher National Certificate i.e. HNC and the Higher National Diploma i.e. HND. The other is a specialized Diploma in Higher Education (Dip HE).

  • It takes students around a year or two to finish one of these vocational degrees.
  • You don’t need to complete the first 2 years of your 4-year degree if you enroll in a 2-year vocational diploma. This is also same for Indian students as well.


Eligibility: Academic Prerequisites

Eligibility

To study in UK, you must be 16 years of age/older. You must complete the required academic qualifications as required by the programme of your choice. You need a strong academic background, which should be similar to the UK A-levels or Scottish Highers qualification. Required English proficiency test (TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, etc.) There is a chance to study in the UK without IELTS, subject to fulfilling other conditions.

You need an overall IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill/section. You should have at least a B2 level of English proficiency to study an undergraduate programme. Some UG and PG programs and some universities may require higher scores in IELTS. You may need to submit an SOP, LOR, and other supporting documents. Some programs require SAT or ACT scores, depending on the program.
