Overview

Founded as the Faculty of Law in 1962, the College of Law dates back to 1876, when Gibson & Weldon, a leading tutoring company, was founded. Acquiring university status in 2012, the institute is the largest law school in the UK. It also became the nation's first for-profit educational institution. Their aim is to teach students in a real and contemporary context that includes interaction and practical knowledge. Their practice-based training programme opens up a wide range of career options, as does the institute's database of legal vacancies.

The students of the university live an active social life as members of the student union. They can join the student union events committee and recommend new programmes or combine activities such as sports, drama, dance, and quiz nights. There are about 8,000 students studying at the university. Of these 8,000 students, about 7,000 are enrolled in graduate programmes, while the remaining 1,000 are enrolled in undergraduate courses. Students of more than 120 nationalities are studying at this university, which welcomes applicants from all over the world. There is also the Employment Services Team and the Student Employment Programme, which work with students to increase their employability. The College is at the heart of legal education as a recognised leader in professional and innovative legal education for prospective lawyers and professional development training for those already qualified. Over the years, we have worked with almost every law firm in the UK to help them meet their training and development needs, many of which send our own students.

They made history in 2006 when they were the first independent institution to receive degrees from the Privy Council, which sparked the creation of our professionally focused LLB and LLM programmes. It is selective as 1 in 6 applicants receive college admissions approval. You would need a Bachelor's degree with 50–60% overall marks and an IELTS score of 6.5 to be confirmed as a graduate student. For more than ten years, it has promoted these programmes via online classes.
