His Majesty's Government of Nepal and the Manipal Education and Medical Group inked a landmark deal to establish a medical college in Nepal on October 18, 1992. For this reason, in 1994, the Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS) was established in Pokhara, offering an MBBS curriculum and connected with Kathmandu University. After that, in 1998 construction began on the Manipal Teaching Hospital (MTH) in Pokhara, which has 750 beds.
