Sandy Bay is located five minutes south of the city centre. In addition to purpose-built teaching and learning facilities, this campus includes a number of on-site services and resources, many of which are situated in the Tasmanian University Student Association (TUSA) building on Churchill Avenue. The University of Tasmania also maintains a number of modest, specialised facilities within the College of Health and Medicine at its Sydney campuses in Darlinghurst and Rozelle. It also maintains a cooperative research laboratory in Pyrmont, Sydney, at the Australian National Maritime Museum.
The University of Tasmania contains five colleges (formerly known as faculties), which are the College of Arts, Law, and Education, the College of Health and Medicine, the College of Science and Engineering, the Tasmanian School of Business, and the University College.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings and the Academic Ranking of World Universities both rank University of Tasmania as one of the best colleges in the world. University of Tasmania has kept these rankings for nearly ten years with very little change.
