Overview

Overview

Larisa Hambartsumyan founded the sole medical university in Armenia, The Medical University After Saint Tereza, in Yerevan in 1992. Mother Teresa wrote the university a letter of encouragement in 1996. Larisa Hambartsumyan, the university's rector, belongs to the International Orem Society (IOS) for Nursing Science and Scholarship. The establishment of this educational facility paved the way for the development of highly skilled medical professionals in Armenia, whose empathy for the underprivileged and humane treatment of them serve as the cornerstones of their moral and ethical conduct.

Along with learning the fundamentals of medical education, students at the Medical University of St. Theresa also develop their practical skills and psycho-pedagogical abilities. This enables the university graduates to treat, care for the sick and disabled, orphans, lonely mothers, and the elderly who need charity, love, attention, and a tactful approach, in addition to successfully and highly productively carrying out their medical activities. Additionally, the students actively participate in the planning of sanitary-educational activities and tangible campaigns against specific diseases.
