Alexandria University is the second-largest Egyptian university, largely regarded as the third-oldest established university in Egypt. It was established in 1938 as part of Cairo University (then known as “Fouad University") and became an independent university following the Royal Decree in 1942, the same year that the Faculty of Medicine was established. The faculty offers an International Medical Programme spanning 5 years of academic studies for the MBBS in Egypt, followed by 2 years of clinical rotations. At the end of the programme, graduates earn an MBBCh (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree. Alexandria University’s Faculty of Medicine operates 11 affiliated hospitals, offering students extensive clinical exposure and hands-on training through high patient flow during clinical rotations. The programme and its curriculum are delivered entirely in English to international students, making it easier for students pursuing their MBBS abroad to understand. The university is located in Alexandria, Egypt, and is surrounded by historical landmarks, offering a blend of modern and coastal atmosphere. It holds several top positions in global university rankings, coming among the top 1000 universities in the world. The medical education is accredited by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education, aligning with international standards.
