Overview
Macquarie University was founded in 1964 and was named after Lachlan Macquarie, an early ruler of New South Wales. On March 6, 1967, the Macquarie University opened its doors to students, with more pupils than expected. The foundation of the Macquarie University was a step towards altering Australia's prevailing conventional education system. Macquarie University is divided into two campuses. Macquarie University's main campus is situated in Macquarie Park, 15 kilometers from Sydney's Central Business District (CBD). Macquarie University's main campus is known as Wallumattagal Campus.
