University of Ottawa

It is a public research university that is located in Ottawa, Ontario, in the country of Canada. They holds the distinction of being the most expansive university globally in terms of its bilingual nature, offering instruction in both English and French. Joseph-Bruno Guigues, who would later serve as the first bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Ottawa, founded the university in 1848.  At its inception, the institution was known as the College of Bytown. In 1861, it was renamed the College of Ottawa, and five years later, it was granted university status under a royal charter. Pope Leo XIII bestowed a pontifical charter on the university on February 5, 1889, elevating it to the status of a pontifical university.

The University of Ottawa underwent a reorganisation on July 1, 1965, establishing itself as an independent corporate entity separate from any external governing body or religious institution. They have over 40,000 students enrolled, over 450 programmes in 10 faculties, and was well-known for its programmes in law, health sciences, and social sciences. It provides a diverse selection of undergraduate and graduate programmes in a wide variety of fields, such as the arts, social sciences, sciences, engineering, health sciences, law, medicine, education, and business administration, among others.

The primary campus is located in the middle of Ottawa, close to the historic Rideau Canal.
