St George's, the University of London (officially St George's Hospital Medical School, unofficially St George's or SGUL), is a constituent institution of the University of London located in Tooting, South London. St. George's Hospital was founded in 1733, and regular registration of trainee fixtures began in 1751. It was the second institution in England (after the University of Oxford) to offer official training courses for doctors. St. George's became connected with the University of London soon after it was founded in 1836. It began with two wards and thirty patients, but by 1734, it had grown to over 250 patients and 15 wards. Furthermore, in 1756, a well-known surgeon, John Hunter, began taking medical lessons in order to deliver the most practical information to university students. The surgeon is regarded as the "Father of Modern Surgery," and he is credited with detailed human anatomy.
The facility is located in London's southwest and houses laboratories where students can practice in real-life circumstances such as medical emergencies. There are also clinical skill laboratories and trauma centers on the grounds. Overall, students have several opportunities to hone their abilities, practice for real-world situations, and obtain valuable experience. The campus is nicely planned and well-kept. It has a lot of flora on it. There are several student housing options available. These are also within a few meters of the campus. The hostels offer eating areas and fully-equipped kitchen facilities, as well as a plasma television in the center of the hall. Wi-Fi is offered throughout the campus, and students can use the hostel's laundry facilities. The university extended its faculties and campus area considerably throughout the years as the number of students increased. The institution currently has approximately 5,500 students and around 800 employees. Aside from academics, university faculty members organize events, festivals, competitions, and numerous cultural activities. These activities take place on university grounds.
