Almost 93 years ago, the republic government of Uzbekistan established Samarkand State Medical University in 1930. Resolution No. 80 of the Council of People's Commissars of Uzbekistan established the Samarkand State Medical University (formerly the State Uzbek Medical Institute) in Samarkand on May 7, 1930. In 2005, the faculties of stomatology, medical preventative medicine, medical biology, and pharmacy were established.
