Princeton University is the fourth-oldest college or university in the United States. It was founded in 1746 as the College of New Jersey. Princeton University is a prestigious research institution and an Ivy League school. Twenty different people have served as president of the institution from colonial times to the present day. After spending a total of ten years between Elizabeth and Newark, the College of New Jersey finally settled at Princeton in 1756. The College of New Jersey became Princeton University in 1896.

Following its slogan, "In the Nation's Service and the Service of Humanity," Princeton University has trained thousands of people who have gone on to work in public service and serve communities all around the globe, including in the United States. Princeton University is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), the Universities Research Association (URA), and the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU), and it is one of the United States' space-grant universities.

Princeton University's 600-acre campus sits in a cosmopolitan town (population 30,000) in central New Jersey, with convenient rail access to Philadelphia and New York City, both 55 miles distant. On the Princeton University campus, there are about 180 buildings. Eleven libraries with about 14 million books are on the campus. It brings in a lot of tourists. About 800,000 people visit its open campus every year, which brings in about $2 billion. On the campus of Princeton University, there are more than 500 student groups, 11 co-ed dining clubs, and many museums, including the Princeton University Art Museum. The property has sporting courts, a coffee shop, computer and study space, an exercise facility, 21 private clubs, pool tables, a parking lot, and many more amenities.

It has an impressive alumni list. There are almost 94,000 living alumni at Princeton. James Madison and Woodrow Wilson, who both went on to become US presidents, were both presidents before they were elected. Michelle Obama, actors Jimmy Stewart and Brooke Shields, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, and Apollo astronaut Pete Conrad are among the other well-known graduates. More than 60% of international students are given scholarships based on how much money their families have. All of the proven applicants' needs have been met by the school's financial aid programs.

All housing students are provided with on-campus housing. Every residential college houses students from all four class years, as well as a few alumni. During the school year, Princeton University's residential colleges offer a friendly environment and a lot of social and academic activities. Reorganized organizations also plan learning opportunities outside of class, like dinners with well-known academics, film series, foreign-language discussion tables, and trips to the theater, opera, and ballet.
