Popularly referred to as the “University of Enlightenment”, Cairo University is Egypt’s leading higher education institution, with a global presence. Established in 1908, it is the second-oldest university, with Kasralainy standing as the oldest medical institution in Egypt. For Indian students, the university offers an integrated 5+2 (7 years) medical programme that awards graduates with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBCh) degree. Since Cairo is NMC-compliant, the degree is equivalent to the MBBS back in India, providing a safer option to pursue an MBBS in Egypt for students who want to practise medicine in India. Cairo University features the oldest school of medicine in the Middle East, known as “Kasr Al-Ainy” through its Faculty of Medicine. Dating back to 1826, this school of medicine is a major part of the Faculty of Medicine, providing the “Integrated Program of Kasr Al-Ainy Medicine" (IPKA). The main campus is also known as the “City of Science”, featuring the digitally advanced New Central Library and an Olympic-grade Sports Village. It has several hospitals, clinical bases, and an in-house museum. With nearly 7,000 international students, the campus offers a massive multicultural environment to Indian students planning to study MBBS abroad.

Giza (Al-Jizah)

Student life at Cairo University is a unique blend of academics and extracurricular activities. It offers both academic opportunities and rich cultural experiences.
Giza witnesses a desert climate with long, hot summers and mild winters. Virtually, the city receives little to no rainfall and has long daylight hours throughout the year.

Summer has the intense heat of a typical desert with scorching sun and no rain. Temperatures can exceed 35°C.
Don't worry
Stay hydrated and wear 40-50 SPF sunscreen when going to the pyramids and exploring the capital city.

Winters are mild and dry, with temperatures ranging from 20°C during the day to 10°C at night.
Perfect Time For
Cairo’s winter offers a more comfortable climate than its summer. Pack light layers for the day and warm jackets for the night.
