Overview

Birat Medical College BMC, which began as an extension programme of Kathmandu University in 2014, is presently preparing for its fifth intake. Birat Medical College and Teaching Hospital, as we are currently called, started in 1991 with a single-bed clinic. In Tanki Shinwari, Biratnagar, the College maintains a 300-bed hospital with 15 specialised departments. Birat Medical College in Biratnagar is the result of Dr. Gyanendra Man Singh Karki's efforts. In 1992, only a few hospitals in Nepal provided gynaecology services. BMC Nepal is able to provide professional medical care to people who need treatment for more than one illness, sickness, or disease. This is due to the obvious ease of having all of the professional departments under one roof, as well as the tight communication and collaboration among these departments. Furthermore, the institution has a system in place that exposes all consultants by sending them to various national and international conferences, symposiums, and specialized training overseas on a regular basis. It enables them to get the most up-to-date information and abilities in their respective professions, allowing them to deliver excellent medical treatment to all patients that visit the institution. There are 148 faculty members available to instruct students pursuing MBBS in Nepal. They have successfully developed 310 doctors as of today.
