Nicolaus Copernicus University, also known as NCU Poland, is named after the 1473 birth of Nicolaus Copernicus in Toru. With 17 faculties (including three medical faculties at the Collegium Medicum UMK in Bydgoszcz), this is one of the largest universities in Poland. It educates almost 30 000 students through graduate and postgraduate courses in over 80 fields of study, 100 specializations, and 50 postgraduate programs. On both the Toru and Bydgoszcz campuses, the university employs 4300 people, with academic teachers accounting for more than half of the workforce.
