One of Iran's largest federal colleges, this facility serves as the province of Markazi's primary medical center. The director of regional health organizations in Markazi province, the Majlis representative of Arak, and officials from the Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education collaborated on the establishment of the Arak University of Medical Sciences.

A rebranding to the "University of Medical Sciences" occurred in 1990. The University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, Markazi Province, was founded in 1994 after regional health organizations were merged into it. This new name was given to the university. At that time, the university also assumed responsibility for providing health services throughout the province.

In 1986, the school first opened its doors with the intention of educating and training future medical professionals to meet the needs of society. Activities in education and research can be broken down into either the basic sciences or the clinical sciences. The school occupies a space that is greater than 10,000 square meters and is equipped with a variety of student services and amenities, including a laboratory, dormitories, a library, computer hardware and software services, sporting space, and more. It was established in 2008 with a credit of more than 80 million rials, 224 emergency beds, and 14 beds that were approved. The facility's space is around 20,000 square meters. The hospital's emergency department is an essential component, and it features a triage area as well as 14 inpatient beds, an outpatient surgery room, a CPR room, and injection rooms.
