NMC Guidelines for Indian Students
According to the latest guidelines from India’s National Medical Commission (NMC), the MBBS course must be fully taught in English with a duration of at least 54 months (4.5 years), followed by a year of clinical experience as an internship (without taking a drop in between).
Indian medical aspirants must comply with all the guidelines in the NMC Gazette to ensure a streamlined career pathway and avoid unwanted consequences.
The NMC Gazette is an officially published set of guidelines for all Indian students who want to pursue MBBS abroad. These are from India’s National Medical Commission, a single medical authority overseeing all academic and professional practices across the country. These guidelines ensure that global MBBS degrees match Indian regulatory standards.
The NMC has made the minimum course duration mandatory at 54 months (4.5 years), followed by a mandatory 12-month clinical rotation (internship).
English should be the primary language of instruction during the course. The Russian university should not be partially offering bridge-year instruction in another language.
All Indian medical graduates must have studied the mandatory subjects (more than 19) during their course, as mentioned in “Schedule-1” of the NMC Gazette.
A valid degree provided by the medical institution that grants the MBBS degree holder the authority to practise medicine in their respective country.
