The Queens Tower, which is all that left of the Imperial Institute, was built in 1887 to honor Queen Victoria Golden Jubilee. The college has adopted the motto & Scientific knowledge, the crowning splendor, and the security of the empire. In 1907, Imperial got its charter when the Royal College of Science, the Royal School of Mines, and the City & Guilds College all joined together.
