Receive an invitation to apply for a Russian student visa (Visa Support). You can get an invitation to apply for a student visa from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. You can also get it from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or from your university in Russia.
Complete the Russian student visa application form online. Find the online visa application at kdmid.ru. This is the official website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Answer the mandatory questions marked with "*".
Gather the necessary documents to apply for a Russian student visa. Below is a list of documents required to apply for a student visa in Russia.
Apply directly. Apply at the Russian consulate / Russian visa processing centre.
Pay the Russian student visa application fee.
After these procedures, you must wait for a response to your request. If the embassy deems it necessary, you may receive an invitation for a visa interview. They may also ask you to submit additional documents.
If your application is successful, you will get a visa for Russia and travel there. However, when coming to Russia, you have to carry out two more procedures. Get an immigration card. At the Russian port of entry, you will receive an immigration card. The card consists of two identical sections containing questions about you and your trip. Fill in the necessary information. Part of the card must be kept with the border police and the rest must be carried with you.
Apply for your Russian student visa. This is the responsibility of the hotel or private host where you will be staying in Russia. Give them copies of your passport, Russian visa, and entry card data pages. They will need these documents to complete the process.

Visa support for students This is the document that supports your assertion about your objective of entering Russia. There are three types of visa invitations accepted for a student visa to Russia. One of the following will be accepted:
Invitation letter from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Your Russian university is responsible for providing you with this invitation. You must present it to the Embassy in its original format, whether in paper form or electronic form.
A copy of the invitation letter directly from your Russian university. This type of invitation is only valid for short-term studies, not renewal. The university principal or the head of the international department must stamp and sign the letter. Note that the letter must be printed on official Russian University paper.
HIV (AIDS) test certificate This test must be taken within three months prior to application. It remains valid for 15–30 days from the date of your request.
