The United Kingdom (UK)

• Students who want to study in the United Kingdom (UK) must apply for a UK Student Visa (previously a Tier 4 UK Visa).
• Recently, the UK Post-Study Work Visa Rules for International Students were loosened. The following rules apply when applying for a UK Student Visa:
  • It is only available for full-time study.
  • A UK Student Visa application costs £363.
  • During the school year, one may work up to 20 hours per week (on or off campus) and full-time during holidays (only on campus). 

Canada 

The visa for Canadian students is subject to the following regulations:

• You must apply for a post-graduate employment visa within 90 days of completing your education.
• For Indian candidates, a medical exam is required as part of the visa application procedure for Canada.
• Spouses may work full-time if they are staying for a year or longer.
• The application fee for this visa is CAD 150.
• Work cannot exceed 20 hours each week. The student may work up to 40 hours a week during vacations, breaks, and summer sessions.

Postgraduate Work Visas in the United Kingdom and Canada

• The UK Home Office has publicly launched its new post-study employment visa (Graduate route visa) for overseas students.

• The Graduate Route will enable overseas students with a degree from a recognised institution in the UK to remain and look for employment in the UK for at least two years.
• If you wish to work there after finishing your education, you must apply for a Graduate Visa (PSW UK).
• The Canadian Post-Graduation Work Visa permits students who have graduated from any post-secondary institution to work post-study for an extended period of up to three years, depending on the length of their degree. 
• With this work permit, the student is able to find employment in any market or industry.
