Vietnam Military Medical University is also known as the School of Military Medicine, VMMU. Founded in 1948, the university carries a long legacy of 74 years. Since then, VMMU has served the nation’s students with its world-class faculty and strong academic curriculum. It was originally established jointly by the Ministry of Health and the Department of Defence as a military medical school exclusively for medical officers. However, in late 1982, the university was renamed the Vietnam Military Medical College and started offering general practitioner training. Although it is a young university compared to other medical universities, it ranks among the top 10 medical universities in Vietnam. To date, the university has produced more than 25,000 doctors and pharmacists and more than 90,000 medical officers. VMMU is privileged to host over 900 research projects and over 200 innovation projects. It has received numerous national-level awards for its remarkable scientific progress. The admission criteria for medical students at the university are comparatively difficult, as there are conditions such as height, weight, and eyesight. Due to admission requirements, only 210 of the applicants are selected for public health positions, and 400 applicants for general practitioner positions each year.
