The Common Admission Test, commonly abbreviated as “CAT”, is a highly competitive, national-level computer-based entrance exam in India. Conducted annually on a rotational basis by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), it serves as the primary gateway for admission into prestigious postgraduate management programs like the MBA and PGDM.
The exam is 2 hours (120 minutes) long, evaluating candidates’ aptitude across three core sections: Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA). The paper consists of 68 questions with max marks of 204 marks. The CAT scores are accepted by all 21 IIMs and over 1,000 other top business schools nationwide.
Through the Common Admission Test (CAT) exam, students can enter management programs like MBA and PGDM, as well as fellowship or doctoral programs.
