Qualifying for the NEET exam is compulsory for every candidate to be eligible for admission abroad to reputed colleges. The NEET exam is one of the National Aptitude Tests to get admission in government and private seats in courses like MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, BDS, and other paramedical courses in India. Every year, it is conducted by the National Testing Agency in the first week of May. As per NMC Guidelines 2021, NEET Qualification is a mandatory criterion for all Indian students who wish to pursue MBBS from foreign countries. The Validity of the NEET exam abroad is three years from the year when students are admitted to MBBS abroad. Students need to have passing marks as per their respective category to get admission in abroad medical universities. The validity of the NEET score in India is 1 year and the validity of the NEET score abroad is 3 years.

Requirement of NEET Score to Get Admission in India

NEET exam was conducted on the 5th of May,2024 this year. The Examination in 2024 was moderate to tough where Biology was tough in comparison with Physics and Chemistry. The general Category cut-off is expected to be around 138 whereas OBC and SC/ST category cut-off is expected to be around 120 and 110 respectively. In 2023, the NEET Exam cut-off was 137, 117, and 110 for the General, OBC and SC/ST categories respectively. Based on the past year's cut-off date, admission to Government Medical seats in India is expected to be closed with marks up to 620 in states like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Karnataka. In States like Uttar Pradesh, a NEET score of 590 is at least required to get admission to MBBS in government medical colleges in India.

NEET Validity for Admission Abroad

All the universities are recognised by the NMC guidelines which have made Qualification in the NEET exam a prerequisite for all the medicine program applicants. MBBS abroad is strictly not possible as all the eligible candidates can only appear for the universities abroad once they have a qualifying NEET score. If a student wishes to do his MBBS abroad without NEET and wants to apply again for NEET after an MBBS abroad, it is strictly not possible as per the NMC guidelines.

Apart from this, there are other eligibility criteria to take admission in MBBS Abroad which are the following:

  1. Minimum passing marks of 50% in 12th class
  2. The minimum age should be 17 years at the time of course commencement
  3. Students should be medically fit

Every year, lacs of students appear for the NEET examination and approximately 30000 students pursue MBBS abroad as they either can not get admission on government medical seats or do not have a hefty budget of more than 70 LCS to pay to get admission on Private medical seats in India. Before starting the application in any foreign medical university for an MBBS, Indian student should always ensure the primary criteria of validity of their MBBS degree i.e. NEET Qualification. NEET Validity for Admission in India

The validity of the NEET Score for Indian medical colleges is 1 year. NEET exam is conducted every year in India so that deserving candidates can be a part of the recognised colleges. Neet counselling 2024 will be done by the MCC. A reservation of 85% of seats is made by the state authorities.

Candidates applying for the NEET exam can be a respected part of the desired colleges. NEET has a total of 720 marks. Indian students need to get a minimum of 620 marks for selection to government MBBS colleges. These minimum marks may vary for different states of India. Uttar Pradesh government medical seats are generally closed at an NEET score of 590. NEET All India rank is calculated on the basis of the NEET score.

MBBS Abroad Essential Requirements

Pursuing an MBBS from abroad is an excellent alternative when an aspiring doctor can not get admission to a government college in India due to tough competition in India. National Medical Commission guidelines for foreign medical graduates clearly state that it is an essential requirement to qualify NEET examination for any foreign medical Indian student before starting an MBBS from abroad. The MBBS degree from abroad will not be valid in cases where a student has not passed the NEET examination before starting their study in MBBS in Russia Georgia or any other country abroad.

NEET is conducted by the National Testing Agency and the validity of the NEET scorecard to take admission to mbbs abroad is up to three years from the commencement year of the degree. Qualifying the NEET with an elicit score is a prerequisite for all the honorary institutions abroad as per the new NMC guidelines.
