Session Intake

The academic year is divided into 2 semesters in Germany, and with 2 main intakes: Winter intake and summer intake. The winter intake starts in October, and the summer intake begins in April. Winter intake in Germany is considered the primary intake for most programmes offered by top universities. Normally, public universities in Germany charge a small semester fee, and some don’t charge fees for domestic or international students. The semester fee ranges between Euros 100 and 350. But private universities are more expensive. Tuition fees at private universities can be around Euros 5,000 to 20,000 or more per year. The overall costs of studying and living in Germany depend on other factors, like food, accommodation, transportation, etc. Normal living expenses can be around Euros 700 to 1000 per month.

Scholarships in Germany

Visa Process

International students who want to study in Germany require a national visa (D Visa) if their stay is more than 90 days, and a Schengen visa (C Visa) for shorter stays of less than 90 days. You need to apply for a student visa named - Visum zu Studienzwecken for a longer stay after getting a letter of acceptance from a German university. National Visa (D Visa) permits one’s entry into the country, but does not grant the right to dwell in permanently. A short-duration student visa is also available for students who want to study language courses.
