For this reason, in 1994, the Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS) was established in Pokhara, offering an MBBS curriculum and connected with Kathmandu University. After that, in 1998 construction began on the Manipal Teaching Hospital (MTH) in Pokhara, which has 750 beds. The university and medical centre are well equipped to provide state-of-the-art medical care and higher education. Since its foundation, the Manipal Group has invested a total of INR 40 billion in MCOMS, and this number continues to rise annually. With over 300,000 students and 7,000 hospital beds, Manipal has built a stellar reputation over the last five decades as a consortium of educational institutions and medical facilities. In addition to employing a sizeable number of Nepalese people directly, the initiative has contributed to the country's economic growth. The Manipal College of Medical Sciences has 22 different programmes, 100 students admitted each year, 20% of those students receiving scholarships, 135+ experienced faculty members, and 2 campuses.
