Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS) is a joint venture of the Nepal government and the Manipal Group. MCOMS is a private medical college that delivers an MBBS degree to national and international students. The MBBS program imparts all modern learning infrastructure to support world-class educational standards. In the 5.5-year-long MBBS program, 4.5 years is allotted for theoretical studies and 1 year is for clinical training. Students do their internship at the 700-bed Manipal Teaching Hospital (MTH) in Pokhara. MBBS degree of MCOMS is recognised by WHO, WDOMS, FAIMER, WFME, and NMC. This denotes that the degree is globally accepted, including in India. After graduation, Indian students can appear for FMGE/NExT to get a medical license in India. MCOMS also offers an affordable tuition fee, which is also gaining attention from international students. The university offers various facilities to the students such as hostel facility, mess facility, and library. Pokhara has a subtropical humid climate with the influence of the Annapurna Himalaya. The city experiences different seasonal temperatures throughout the year.
During the summer, the temperature in Pokhara is around 20 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius. Summers are hot and humid, and the city experiences maximum rainfall during this time. Cloudy skies often obscure mountain views on rainy days. Students can explore local natural beauties, mountain views, rivers, and temples during the summer time.
Winters are cold and mostly dry. Days are sunny and comfortable. Temperature drops during the night. The temperature ranges between 5 degrees Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius during daytime. The city experiences snowfall mostly in winter. Don’t get scared! Hostels and the entire campus have centralised heating facilities.
