NMC Compliance (As Per Latest Guidelines)
Minimum Duration
To align with the NMC guidelines, the MBBS course duration must be 5.5 years, where 5 years will be allotted for academic studies and 1 year for clinical experience. University of Traditional Medicine offers a 6-year MBBS course which fully complies with the NMC guidelines.
Medium of Instruction
NMC declares that the entire MBBS course must be taught in English. NMC does not accept bilingual courses or courses taught in the local language. As UTM offers an English-medium course, it complies with the rule set by the NMC.
Mandatory Subjects
There are more than 19 compulsory subjects mentioned in Schedule 1 of the NMC Gazette. The MBBS curriculum at UTM includes all the mandatory subjects during the 6-year course.
Validity of the Degree
NMC approves the MBBS programmes that are recognised by the government of the country where it is established. Complying with that rule, UTM is recognised by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia.
Mandatory Internship
NMC requires an FMG to complete a 12-month Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI). At the University of Traditional Medicine, students complete 1 year of mandatory internship and clinical rotations in affiliated hospitals in Armenia.
Indian Screening Tests
The University of Traditional Medicine complies with all the mandatory requirements proposed by NMC. Hence, foreign graduates will be eligible to appear in the Indian licensing exams like the FMGE or NExT. Upon qualifying the licensing exams, they will be eligible to practice in India.
