Stanford University

Jane and Leland Stanford established Stanford University in 1885 in remembrance of their only child, who died of typhoid. Stanford University finally opened its doors in 1891, with 555 students enrolling in the inaugural year. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission has accredited Stanford (WSCUC). In addition, the institution is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), Conceive Design Implement Operate (CDIO), and Space-grant. When it comes to the Stanford University campus, the main campus is on 8,180 acres in the heart of the San Francisco Peninsula. The campus has over 630 structures, 43,000 trees, 25 fountains, over 1,000 distinct plant species, and 1,170 rental flats for academics and employees as of January 2022. In addition, two world-class art museums are located on the Stanford campus. University students may also take use of cutting-edge leisure facilities and wellness programmers.

The  Stanford University has seven schools: the Graduate School of Business, the School of Earth, Energy, and Environmental Sciences, the Graduate School of Education, the School of Engineering, the School of Humanities and Sciences, the Stanford Law School, and the School of Medicine, all of which offer numerous undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of fields. In terms of Stanford University admissions, a total of 16,937 students were enrolled as of Autumn quarter 2021. Stanford University has a 12% international student enrollment from 72 countries. There were a total of 7,645 undergraduate students and 9,292 graduate students enrolled. 

Stanford University students have access to both on-campus and off-campus housing alternatives. Stanford University's residential system provides new freshman 12 full or partial quarters of academic year campus residence. Students may look into different housing choices if they need additional possibilities. Stanford's centres of excellence include seven schools, research institutions, the arts, and sports. Its endowment is worth $37.8 billion. The faculty collaborates closely with students and performs cutting-edge research. The university academics are engaged on around 7,900 externally funded projects totaling $1.69 billion.

Stanford now has 2,288 professoriate academic members. Endowed professorships are held by 682 members. Stanford University has produced 35 Nobel Prize winners since its inception. Ten National Medal of Science winners, four Pulitzer Prize winners, six National Humanities Medal winners, three Kavli Prize winners, and seven A.M. Turing Award winners will be teaching at Stanford in the fall of 2021. There are now more than 220,000 Stanford graduates worldwide. First-generation college students make up almost 18% of the student population. The university is a shining example of ethnic variety, with students from all areas of life: 25% are Asian, 8% are Black or African American, 18% are Hispanic or Latino, 12% are international, 9% are mixed race, and 23% are White.
