Emirates Aviation University was established in 1991. Initially named Dubai Aviation College, the purpose of this college was to grow a group of skilled professionals for Dubai's rapidly growing aviation sector. The university earned its aviation training certification from the GCAA within two years of establishment, and by 1999 it was licensed by the Ministry of Education to grant academic awards. The Emirates Group got university status in 2010.
