His Majesty's Government of Nepal and the Manipal Education and Medical Group inked a landmark deal to establish a medical college in Nepal on October 18, 1992. For this reason, in 1994, the Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS) was established in Pokhara, offering an MBBS curriculum and connected with Kathmandu University.

After that, in 1998 construction began on the Manipal Teaching Hospital (MTH) in Pokhara, which has 750 beds. The university and medical centre are well equipped to provide state-of-the-art medical care and higher education.

Since its foundation, the Manipal Group has invested a total of INR 40 billion in MCOMS, and this number continues to rise annually.
