The university is renowned for its sports and since 2005 has been working on Olympic and Paralympic projects including research, student engagement and sports partnerships. Our research strength has grown by 54% in REF 2021 to 538, from 350 in REF 2014. 92% of the research is recognized as world-leading, internationally excellent or Internationally recognized. REF 2021 is the largest review to date, with 208.5 full-time equivalent employees submitting reviews, a 61% increase since REF 2014. 

Our university international office provides advice from the early stages of the application process through to arrival in London. There is a free pre-sessional orientation for international students, and there are also academic preparation courses for some university programs (as well as preparatory English). It has secure riverside accommodation on campus with 24-hour security. There are approximately 1200 rooms available in the UEL Student Village. All rooms have a private bathroom and an internet point. There are several private university residences nearby. The accommodation service can advise you on shared accommodation and boarding arrangements.
